"Hard Times": Farrar learned this song from his folksinging father, who was a Stephen Foster fan. "I just liked the sentiment in the title," says Farrar. "I heard it as a kid and I've heard people cover it over the years, but I don't have it on record or CD. So I was just pulling elements I remembered and then making up new lyrics and a melody for it."

  • Hi Monk - guitar sounds amazing as usual and your voice fits the song perfectly..great stuff. I have a martin 00015 and am really struggling to get a nice recorded sound out of it. Im using a relatively cheap SE electronics condenser on the 12th fret to avoid too much bottom end but i still pick up a clicky noise from my right hand toucking the top of the guitar. i admit that some times i use this to add rythm to my playing but it sounds fine when recorded on my spruce top. Any advice?

    Cheers

  • @sparrabag

    Thank you.

The only thing I can think of is maybe the non-gloss finish on the 15 is making noise when your hand hits it. They're known for this. You could try some rubbing compound and gloss it out. Other than that there shouldn't be much difference in recording the two.

  • By the way, I think thats your best sounding guitar. When I turn it up loud the notes hit my soul, I swear.

  • Thanks John. It's a great guitar, kinda play itself sometimes.

  • great song and a great job...I love all your posts. Keep em comming.....

  • Very nice song.

  • Very beautiful. Love the laid back way of presenting it. You just have to feel it.
