My video of the shrinking pop bottle technique wasn't as clear as I would have liked so I pulled in a bit closer with the camera to give a better view

  • how hot is that?

  • the heat gun gets very hot. A hair dryer will work in a pinch but takes a lot longer.

  • So, What is the whole theory behind encasing the stack in plastic??

Or do you only cover the middle part, not the total ends of it??

  • you cover everything but leave the top and bottom open, this prevents your current from passing anywhere but between the plates. I increased production by a factor of about 5 by doing this.

  • Wouldn't it keep the current from shorting in the bottom area if you sealed the bottom up too? With the bottom open current can short between the whole cell.

  • the electrolyte has to flow from bottom to top like a chimney.

  • I use either a plastic machine head screw or a plastic threaded rod. Each of those are a quarter inch and standard thread size. the machine screw can be purchased at lowe's the rod I had to order from mcmaster carr.
