Varnam is the most technically demanding and elaborate piece in Bharathanatyam, with intricate rhythmic patterns that reflect the melody and lyrics of the composition. It is an opportunity to demonstrate complicated pure dance, or nritta, alternated with the depiction of emotions, or abhinaya.

In keeping with the theme of "Hari Hara Prabhaavam", Guru Ramya Ramnarayan, Nrithyanjali Institute of Dance, has strung three varnams together.

The first Varnam is titled "Saamiyai Azhatthu Vaadi", composed by the Tanjore Quartet in parise of Lord Shiva. In this varnam the heroine requests her friend to bring Lord Shiva to her since in her eyes he is the greatest among all other Gods and Demi-Gods. Saamiyai Azhaitthu Vaadi in Raagam Kamas set to Adi Thaalam.
