Van Halen - Summer Nights (Demo)

This track is a demo of "Summer Nights" off "5150." Sammy is mostly ad-libbing the vocals and the music is mostly similar to the album but most tracks are missing the solos. The CD I got this off of was called "The Dawn of 5150."

@TheHeetmizer I would have loved to see what Dave did with this song. It's so unlike anything VH did pre-Sammy. Same goes for a few other tunes off 5150, like Best of Both Worlds, Dreams, etc.

@TheHeetmizer I don't see how there could be a recorded version w/ DLR. Dave could NEVER have sung this song. His range was no better than mine, and I can't hit any of these notes.

@hitmanprodigy That's what it says in Wikepedia of their unreleased tracks, Summer Night with Roth was recorded. I don't think it gets better than Sammy on this song but would love to hear the DLR version for a comparison, especially back when he could still sing

The guitar in this song was leftover from the Roth era but Sammy wrote the lyrics.

i really like it unpolished, both sound great of course, but it just sounds very raw and eddies guitar sounds crazy

someone EQ,d the piss out of this and added compression also because my copy is way cleaner and full range EQ this has almost no lower mids or bass all highs
