Jonny Walker showing a quick how to on setting the timing belt on a 4g63. This is a basic dry run video, that is made to show the basics on timing the 4g63 DOHC Evo, and DSMs with BSE.

This video was filmed to help the community. Please respect the fact that we made this to keep our tech call volume down about basic timing issues. Please do not take this as an invite to call our sales lines only concerning tech help. We hope this request is understandable. Thanks!

  • Sounds like a plan, Ill get one up here this week. Until then, we do have a nice tech article on the site with about 10-20 or so pics. Its in the quick specs category of the site.

    Thanks!

  • Great video! I would love to see a video doing a BSE in the future.

  • Almost ready for the BSE Video. We are waiting for a NEW PART that we are making, which is a Aluminum Spacer that replaces the Balance shaft gear that is on the crank. It will MSRP for around $20 :) and take off 7 OZ. from the crankshaft. Great bang for buck, along with the Aluminum Crankshaft Timing Belt Drive Gear coming out in the Spring.

    Thanks!!

  • This doesn't even begin to demonstrate how to properly install the timing belt. This video will fuck more people up than help them.

  • i have a question, i have to change my timing belt one a 2.4 kia (almost the same as the mitsu 4g63/4) the belt didn't snap but when i was inspecting it it had lots of missing teeth and as i pushed in it checking the tension it fell apart.. im wondering is it safe to turn the cams with out the belt?? . oh and for all those looking for info on KIA and Hyundai.. • you guys have it all wrong. DSM stands for Diamond Star Motors. Chrysler, Mitsubishi, and Plymouth got together back in the late 80's to produce 3 cars, one under each of their "make" names. Plymouth Laser, Mitsubishi Eclipse, and Eagle Talon. They either came with a 1.8L, 2.0 non-turbo, or a 2.0 turbo. The 2.0L motor was all Mitsubishi's design. They had been using the motor years prior to them being in these cars. The 2.0 is also known as the 4G63.

  • @Ub3rNo0ber thanks bro...now i consider the eclipse a JDM car if it has the 4g63 motor they sold the eclipse in japan called the d32a right???

  • @MrOpoooooooooooooooo Well i have a tsi 4g63t, its made by Chrysler, Mitsubishi i believe came out with it first.. Then Chrysler copied it or something to be able to compete against Mitsu Its all on google if you wanna check it out ..
