  • hey this is for you :/watch?v=CXujxSsT2wI&feature=channel_video_title

    a superrare roy video

  • @SachaTheEvilOne Thanks.

  • Damn - missed it - I was watching on the TV :-(

  • Cool, but this doesn't sound like the same version I owned. Did he record it twice, or at least mix it twice?

  • @billbadford Not that I'm aware. There are some live versions around, but I don't think the version from Stormcock was ever remixed.

  • @passer59 Nevermind. I am thinking of "Part 2", which is the only part I ever owned and familiar with from the "Roy Harper - 1970 to 1975" LP.

  • @billbadford Sorted then! When I originally uploaded this, I was unable to do the whole song in one file (youtube limitation) though it might be allowable now that the limits have been raised. Anyway, glad it brought back memories for you. Cheers.

  • @SuperNevile He may have played sober, but he never played without cadging a joint from the audience, which he would wedge under his guitar strings in between puffs. It was a miracle if he managed a song without relying on the audience to help him out with the lyrics which he always forgot. Those were the days. I met him a few times and he was always charming, although a bit sleazy, his parting words to me at the LSE in 1981 were "see you in a dream or two" I was about 16. Timon Dog supported.

  • I recently reclaimed all my vinyl from my Dad's Surrey attic. When I finally lugged it all home I realised, rather sadly, that I'd spent a lot of the seventies listening to pretentious crap. It is really only Roy Harper that stands up 30+ years later. In fact we probably underestimated him, if anything. Even this track (which was on an album I didn't have) is bringing a lump to my throat as I listen. Shine on brightly indeed. Come back Ghengis Smith, all is forgiven.

  • David Bedford's strings absolutely ruin this song. Pity.

  • People don't know that this guy sang on the "Wish You Were Here" album from Pink Floyd.

  • @billbadford try Flashes from the Archives of Oblivion .. Think it might be on that live double LP, too many tabs then to be sure . Only seen it on Amazon recently and it's @ £30 with no track listing .also some of LP on you tube

  • I saw Roy a few times back when I lived in England in the 70s. A couple of times he played this and really stretched his vocals, it was extraordinary. He was excellent every time but this song was a high.

  • RIP david bedford, who aranged the string on this and much of roy's work

  • Best Roy song, (I've heard)...

  • Never heard this guy before, nice!
