Cologne lies on the Rhine. The city's famous Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Cologne. The University of Cologne (Universität zu Köln) is one of Europe's oldest universities.

Cologne is a major cultural centre of the Rhineland and has a vibrant art scene. Cologne counts over 30 museums and hundreds of galleries. Exhibitions range from local ancient Roman archaeological sites to contemporary graphics and sculpture. The city's Trade Fair Grounds are host to a number of trade shows such as the Art Cologne Fair, the International Furniture Fair (IMM) and the Photokina. Cologne is also well known for its celebration of Cologne Carnival and the LGBT festival Christopher Street Day (CSD).

  • What is the name of the train ticket that you bought that allowed you to travel 4 days within a month as you said? I'm asking because I'll get there in October and I'm exploring the options around by train. You went there in which month? Was it too cold?? Anyway, great video!!! :)

  • Happy Weekend Ticket

You can take the train as often as you like within one weekend, anywhere in Germany, and on any local train (no Intercity Express).

The ticket costs 35 Euro and is valid for up to 5 persons traveling together. We were there in March. The weather wasn't too cold but definately colder than Florida where we live.

  • @juril001 the Schönes Wochenende Ticket (Happy Weekend ticket) is actually only valid for one day, either Saturday OR Sunday, from midnight until 3am the following morning.

  • @KazAlphaville sad that it has changed. When we were there in 2007 it was for the entire weekend. That is what made it such a good deal. I guess it is still a good deal but it was nice when you had two entire days of travel. We went to Cologne and to Trier as day trips from Bacharach.

  • Thanks guys for a great video! And checked your channel and subscribed! Your take seems objective and not business focused! Also pretty educational! I had looked for channels of that nature as I hate being sold stuff all the time! I want to be educated and entertained! I loved my visit to Cologne, and think it beat6s Berlin hands down, in the way that it's not as scary as foreboding Berlin! Thanks again!

  • Thanks. I just do this for fun so no selling stuff. I figure if anything ever happens to the house I would still have my memories accessible to me online. Glad that you have enjoyed them.
