An F2 tornado touched down just southeast of Harrow over Lake Erie around 3am Sunday morning and traveled east into Leamington where it eventually weakened to F1 strength and dissipated. Additional downbursts from the storm system are responsible for causing additional heavy property damage, according to Environment Canada. The tornado is estimated to have been about 50 feet wide with wind speeds ranging from 180-240km/h in its early stages. Winds were estimated to be 120-170km/h in its late stages.

A 40 kilometer path of heavy property damage was recorded by Environment Canada. F1 tornado damaged as also been recorded by EC east of Leamington, along the Lake Erie shoreline.

**Environment Canada is now stating that there were three separate tornado touchdowns during the storm. Two tornadoes touched down near Harrow and one Tornado touched down near Leamington. The Leamington tornado had the longest damage path of the 3--approximately 7km of destruction.

Downburst damage caused by the storm was incredibly wide, with a width of about 1 kilometer in diameter.

Nearly every large tree along Seacliff Drive from Erie Street in Leamington to Union Avenue in Kingsville was either damaged or completely uprooted. Many trees, hydro poles, and a few structures were also badly damaged near Harrow.

No injuries were reported despite all the destruction. Hydro One deployed its entire fleet to the area to repair and replace all of the many downed hydro lines. Several Union Gas vehicles were also scattered throughout the area to deal with severed gas lines. There was a strong smell of natural gas around a few of the damaged homes. Additional fire fighters from other municipalities in Essex County also responded to help out the Town of Leamington, which is still currently in a state of emergency.

The same storm system produced powerful tornadoes in Dundee, Michigan and Milburry, Ohio earlier in the evening around 2:17am. The tornado which struck Milburry caused 7 fatalities. The tornado that struck Dundee did not cause any fatalities, but it did cause heavy property damage, leveling many buildings and damaging Fermi Nuclear Power Station 2.

*Just to clarify, the first 30 seconds of footage was technically shot in Kingsville. All other footage was shot in Leamington.

WHAT IS A DOWNBURST? A downburst is created by an area of significantly rain-cooled air that, after hitting ground level, spreads out in all directions producing strong winds. Unlike winds in a tornado, winds in a downburst are directed outwards from the point where it hits land or water.

Featuring the music of Thomas Newman. Song track entitled "Any Other Name".

  • Essex, Leamington, Windsor ?? These are all places in England? Where in America is this?

  • @TheFever77

It's in the province of Ontario, in Canada. A lot of the city, county and township names in south-western Ontario are named after places in Britain. There's also a city near here called London, a county called Middlesex, a county called Chatham-Kent, a county called Lambton, a town called Stratford, a city called Hamilton, and many more.

  • did anyone die?

  • @boi9031

Nobody died in Leamington/Essex County. 7 people died in Milburry, Ohio, from the same storm cell.
