In June 2006, The Artists for Conservation Foundation awarded the Simon Combes Conservation award for the first time to renowned UK artist, David Shepherd. The presentation took place at the Hiram Blauvelt Art Museum (Oradell, NJ) during a retrospective show of Simon's Artwork, assembled shortly after his tragic death two years earlier.
I met david shepherd yesterday. he was on the BLACK PRINCE which is a Stem train he has bought and it runs on the local narrow guage train line at TODDINGTON here in Gloucesetr. i didn't know who he was I have to say and he was very nice ..all dressed up for riding on the footplate of the train .His family sat near me and i wondered why people were asking him for his autograph...anyway ..since then I have googled him and realized how good he is..wish i'd known before I had met him.lovely chap.
