(Part 6)

On Monday, July 27, 2009, I went with my friend Matt (CSX2788), and his dad to Cresson, Pennsylvania, for a night at the Station Inn Bed & Breakfast. This is part 6 of the action that we saw that next day, 7-28-09, when we went to Norfolk Southern's Juniata heavy repair shops. Me, Matt (CSX2788), and another kid, named Brandon that was also staying at the Station Inn, walked on the sidewalk that runs parallel to the shops. This video starts off with the rest of the pictures from the shops, and then ends with what we saw at ROSE Yard.

The pictures from the shops start with some new snowplows, us standing by the Juniata Shop sign, and a pretty cool NS truck. Walking further down the side-walk, we come across the turn table. The first thing we see is right by the fence, in a garbage bin. It's an American flag that was painted on the side of a Ex- Conrail sitting in the dumpster. Also, next to the dumpster, there is a big radiator fan. Next to both of those items lies nothing but the blue base with railings. So sad to see a Conrail stripped. Around the turntable we see some pretty cool engines sitting all with their backs to us. We see the following:

North Shore #2004 (GP38), NS #3201 (SD40-2), NS #9806 (C40-9W), (Ex- Conrail) NS #6747 (SD60I), NS #6613 (SD60) NS #9926 (C40-9W), NS #6635 (SD60), NS #6311 (SD40-E), NS #9654 (C40-9W), NS #2576 (SD70), NS #9926 (C40-9W), NS #5618 (GP38-2), and MBTA (Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority) #1139 (GP40MC).

After we saw the turn-table, and the shops, we went over to the North 8th Street Bridge, which is the bridge that goes over the East part of ROSE Yard. As we get on the bridge, we catch the trail end of an auto train with helper set NS #6304 (SD40-E), and NS #6307 (SD40-E) going West on track one. As the help set rolls by, a mixed-freight comes slowly out of the yard, led by NS #9194 (C40-9W), and NS #9024). Off in the distance of the yard, I can see a (Ex- Conrail) NS #6735 (SD60I) sitting alone all by itself. After the mixed fright passes, I was down to the other side of the bridge where there are literally a ton of auto boxcars. There is also a Ex- Penn Central gondola, and I can see an Ex- Conrail transfer caboose. Walking back to the other side of the bridge I see NS #5257 (GP38-2) switching a few cars in the yard. While NS #5257 is switching in the yard, NS #2668 (SD70M-2), and NS #8331 (C40-8W) stop on track one for a crew change. After that train leaves, we leave as well, but not before seeing an approaching train on the yard track. We decided to wait and see it, but it stopped so we left to go get some lunch!
