A very popular effect in film and television where the camera switches focus on objects in one shot.

I'll show you how to do it, as long as your camera has manual focus.

I use the Panasonic PV GS320 , but it should work similar with all other cameras.

Thanks for watching!

  • good info

  • A very helpful thing about filming. Thanks!

  • I never knew my camera could do this before I saw this vid : D

dunno what to say, other than thank you A LOT!

  • @evanshowler true

  • proper terminology is a "rack focus"

  • I need to do a pull focus for a multimedia project. This helped a lottttt. Thanks (:

  • That's brilliant...I've always wanted to know how to do it so thanks heaps

  • @mattie2710 : Zoomed in more, the Depth of Field effect is more dramatic then when you zoom out all the way.

I'm not saying it doesn't work fully zoomed out, this is a little camera and lens specific so experiment with what feels good.

A bigger lens means a more shallow Depth of Field even in wide angle situations, but this is where handheld camera's can (not necessarily do) lack some Depth of Field dramatics, because the lens opening is very small compared to for instance, DSLR lenses.

  • Great tutorial, loved it :)

I have a 70x optical zoom on my camcorder, does that mean i have to zoom it out all the ay for it to work???

  • how much is the PV GS320
