@gjc82071 I agree, the synthcart is... let's say it has its place. :) I was never fond of brutalizing a 2600 to add MIDI, so I did my own (watch?v=PLT4TyAIHDk) as well. The TIA is pretty straightforward to control. I can't speak for anyone else, but figuring out the MIDI state machine and a robust note-stealing algorithm took me way longer than controlling the chip.
hQlwkwnnBus is a video that cycles through all sounds, and yeah, you can easily identify them. :)

how can i pluc a vcs 2600 into a midi keyboard?

0:57 sounds like my old dial up connection

wait... is Atari 2600 just literal sound bites?
I have seen a video where someone turned Paint into an soundfile (via raw import) and I heard some similiar sounds.

Dude, this is so bad-ass. The Atari Synth Cart is cool, but this is even better. Personally, I always had a thing for the Atari 2600's sound. I've like it since I was a kid/got it in '77. If you cycled thru & played various sounds, I bet I could associate various sounds with specific games that used'em. BTW, Can you buy a pre-made Atari 2600 MIDI synth set-up, or do you have to build/DIY?
