Samurai Shodown 3 (1995) Boss Fight

A boss fight with Zankuro.

Evaluation: Zankuro is by far the cheapest boss that I have faced yet, this guy is a reason why I wish I never did an Snk boss month. I tell you I spent hours fighting this guy and trying to beat him, oh what I do to entertain my viewers. Well, let's move on with his evaluation. Zankuro predicts your moves, he deflects your attacks and his attacks take off way more damage than any of your strongest attacks. Hitting him is almost impossible because he blocks like every attack that you throw at him. My tips as far as strategy is concerned is to just resort to whatever cheap and pathetic method of combat that you can think of to beat him.

This guy is pretty easy if you're using upper grade bust Ukyo. Just use your disarming move, then right when Zankuro picks up his sword, use it again. Rinse and repeat.

None of the Samurai Shodown bosses can compete with the KOF bosses in terms of cheapness. Except Mizuki from SS2. Now SHE was a fucking nightmare.

@mobileintern7 I played Samurai Shodown 2 so much when I was younger that I could take her out with any character. I spent many frustrating hours battling er before I could finally beat her.

I always found him to be harder if the difficult was set to default. I normally played this game on difficulty 8 because the enemies actually act like real human players. Once you get to Zankuro on that difficulty he actually doesn't sit around WAITING for you to attack so he can counter attack to punish you.

I also wouldn't label him as SNK's cheapest boss. Goenitz in KOF96 was by far worse in my opinion. Those constant tornado moves. >8(

@MarurunLEB Goenitz is annoying, but he never gave me as much trouble as Zankuro. I posted a boss fight with Goenitz, and I beat him pretty quickly.

zankuro cpu is a sucker for evade (A+B and fwd+A+B)

@suddnstar: I see exactly what you're saying, and completely agree. The interesting about Zankuro is that, even more than any other SNK boss, you have to experience him firsthand to realize just how truly and genuinely difficult he truly is. You can't just read all of the horror stories numerous people have written about his AI. You have to fight it yourself, and go through the hell personally. And I DEFINITELY have.

SNK apparently was very psychologically thoughtful...
