I might install Windows 2000 and replace the CD-ROM Drive.
I also have a Canon IP2000 printer for Windows 2000.

  • Windows XP is better, and they are the same basically, NTFS is the file system they both use, if it's too slow, it's memory that you should consider. Where is this computer? It's good to know how to build them, you save money from buying something all assembled Have luck fixing them. Capacitors require a soldering iron to remove, and that's dangerous to do without some knowledge, they can burn you pretty good!

  • @MetallicBill XP was slow on this computer when it ran.

  • @Win95Setup Xp requires only 233Mhz, which is lowest speed Pentium 2, and only 64MB is required for memory chips, even 48MB might work but it won't install without enough memory present. It comes with DEFAULTS set to use, if you require speed, shut down all operations in XP that you don't need. GET HELP with this, it's complicated but can benefit older machines!

  • @MetallicBill I will probably use this PC as a webserver, so I will use Windows 2000 Server.

  • @Win95Setup Buying Windows to use is expensive, I know because I needed it, and just recently bought Windows 7, the newest one cost me $110, but I'm now seeing Home Edition Win7 for $80 to $90, Windows 7 is very nice I will say this

  • @MetallicBill Actually, I only need Windows 2000 Professional to run a webserver. I have the disc. I am installing it today.

  • Respond to this video... When you set the operational features of XP, if set incorrectly (called SERVICES) the computer may not run the OS any longer, you may wind up with a screen blank, blue, or frozen. So read some articles on how to do things like this, I bought a magazine and even that is subjective because it depends what you want to use and what you don't need that XP has included on it
