  • For some reason I can't plant seeds despite my status saying I have around 40. Can you explain?

  • @Dirtyblue929 You need to enable each type of seed you want to plant for all of the seasons. You may be enabling them for only one season, or not enabling that type of seed at all.

  • Is it safe to build bedrooms so close to workshops? In another tutorial, for an earlier version, it was mentioned that workshops create noise that disturb the sleep of Dwarves even on different levels if they are close enough.

  • @dragonatorul You're right, but I mention in part 7 that we're going to transition those rooms into being offices. I'll eventually cover fortress layouts, and I will bring up the noise issue, but for now, it's more important to show people how to make bedrooms.

  • Nice tutorial.. helped me to get started.. i wont watch part 5 because i like trial and error.. helped me alot :D

  • @miauw62 Also, you can get about 20+ free barrels by buying many different meats, not just adding more of one type. Each separate type of meat in stored in a separate barrel, so when a dwarf eats or cooks the meat, you have an empty barrel. And, of course, dwarves prefer a variety of foods to cook with and eat so it's win-win. It's just more to haul at first... lol

  • @miauw62 Tutorial Part -1 is for world creation and choosing a spot and Tutorial Part 0 is for embark skills and items. It takes a bit of getting used to in setting up a world and it's one of the most complicated and tedious of tasks, but he does a pretty good job explaining. I'm surprised he doesn't mention looking at the dwarves' personalities to see if any would would excel at or enjoy their job. For example, see if any of them like wood or axes for a wood cutter.

  • Personal pref, but when mining large areas (whole floor plans even!), I find it easier to designate everything, then break it all up into easily digestible chunks. You have to re-designate the blocked off tiles from time to time, but you get a usable room much faster and the miners don't wander around the entire area in a zig-zag. It also prevents them from pathing all the way around a huge area to mine a single tile that was right in front of them, but decided to chip at from another side.

  • Oh, very nice save file, its for part 4.

so far, i have been trying my hand on my own (epic) world, problem is, i dont know your embark things.

  • this are epic tuts, but they dont have too much comments and views, despite they are the best i found. at least you got one loyal subscriber :D

  • I really hope the kitchen is automated... never built it you know.
