Dr. James Hillman discusses myth and the world around us at one of the Mythic Journeys conferences. To find out more information, please go to: www.mythicimagination.org
I have tried to watch this second part of the conference from different computers, and it always says the same: "An error has been produced. Please try again later".
Anyone else has this issue? Someone knows if the same video is posted somewhere else?
Why should the myths which predominate be mediterranean? Arbitrary. Hillman always has been onto something but why stick with the mythos the doctor prescribes? :) All human renditions of 'archetypal presences' must be reductions from the original in any case. Oedipus Tyrannus won't do as a total picture of our time! However interesting.
HIs ideas on certitude and Vico do resonate though. Hillman for me is not a complete answer but always interesting and useful.
I have studied and even met Hillman and have learned much from him, but his approach remains one-sided and rather fragmentary when compared to Jung itself. Giegerich, for example, has felt obligued to launch a systematic attack on archetypal psychologys use (or, as he says, abuse) of ancient gods in its theoretical framework since You respect the Gods only as Gods if you acknowledge them as Gods of the bygone past.( SOUL'S LOGICAL LIFE 182)

I love the music in the sound of his voice as he speaks of certain high things (he makes me high)
