Heading into Jr. Heavyweight Land for a couple of top tens today. First up, a man that is probably familiar to most of you in the form of Kaz Hayashi. Originally wrestling as Shiryu, Kaz began his career with Pro Wrestling WAR, and actually won the Central American Middleweight Title during his stay. He eventually jumped to Michinoku Pro, and joined the KAIENTAI DX faction, and wrestled in many critically acclaimed multi-man matches while there. In 1998, he shed the mask, and competed as Kaz Hayashi. His first taste of the spotlight was almost his last. Competing in the New Japan Top of the Super Juniors tournament, he took an insanely sick bump(it's somewhere on YT, check it out). Amazingly, he escaped uninjured, and continued his career. He traveled to the United States, and found a steady position with WCW, and along with Jimmy Yang and Jamie (K)Noble, the trio feuded with Three Count, putting on some spectacular matches. Toward the end of WCW, Kaz would historically receive the first Styles Clash in history at the hands of AJ Styles. After WCW's buyout, Kaz returned to Japan, and joined with All Japan Pro Wrestling. There, he found himself in the middle of the Jr. Heavyweight scene, and in 2003, he would once again come to the United States, wrestling AJ Styles at ROH's Final Battle event. 2004 was arguably Kaz' best year, as he would start the year All Asia and the All Japan World Tag Team Titles within two weeks of one another. A month later, he filled the vacant AJPW World Jr. Heavyweight Title, and held on to the belt, defeating all challengers. Eventually losing to TAKA Michinoku, he rebounded with a victory over AJ Styles, then plowed through the 2006 Jr. Heavyweight League, and earned a shot against then-champion Shuji Kondo. The two destroyed one another for half an hour, but alas, Kaz was unable to defeat the hefty Kondo. He traveled to PWG in 2007, and defeated Alex Shelley and Pac on consecutive nights. After floating around the mid-card in an odd stable for some time, Kaz returned to his roots in the Jr. Heavyweight division. In 2009, he again reached his peak, when he defeated Naomichi Marufuji to bring back the AJPW World Jr. Heavyweight Title after several months. Thus far, he's turned away the likes of MINORU, Shuji Kondo, and Super Crazy. For a Jr. Heavyweight, Kaz has quite a bit of strength, able to muscle up the likes of Kondo for various Suplexes as he sees fit. The WA4 is incredibly effective, and often can help set up the Final Cut, which as its name implies, is usually final. However, in extreme circumstances, there's always the Power Plant.
