In addition to my freshwater aquascapes, I have also been working on a saltwater setup. This video shows footage of my Oceanic Biocube loaded with live sand and live rock. It has been cycling for several weeks and will soon be ready for some coral and some fish. The water is stable with a temperature at 78 degrees and a specific gravity of 1.025.

  • Since this is live rock, when you arrange them, the join into one?

  • @Hamyshark I'm not sure what you mean, but I generally try to stack live rock in a manner that maximizes light and water flow.

  • i'm not using live sand (i'm just having a freshwater biocube and i'm probably not going to use any live plants) but how long did it take for the sand to settle when you put it in?

  • @BeardieDragonGirl One day.

  • How long do u cycle water and sand I just got a 29 gal bio but I'm new to this help me out ... Anybody with advice would be cool

  • @Standinglightfox You cycle the tank for as long as it takes to get ideal water parameters.

  • So even with live rocks and live sand to cycle, it still takes a few weeks? I thought this would make it faster....?

  • i just got the biocube skimmer and cycleing the tank know it about 3 week know and wonted to know how long intill i should turn on the skimmer i have just a little green water/little fogge

  • i got rid of the filter system on mine, it makes the tank a tad bigger, and i added a 30g sump, works wonderfully. i like the shape of your live rock man

  • Nice! I really enjoy my 29 gal. oceanic biocube. Is this your first saltwater tank?
