  • Don't know, never had a chance to use an IBM Model M.

  • @fosnaugh123 das keyboard sounds more like a light typewriter whereas the the model M has a deeper more diffused sound. Basically the das keyboard is higher pitched.

  • It's been years, but IIRC IBM keyboards had a deeper click to them. They sounded a bit more like in this video, while with Das, you mostly hear the high pitched tick from the switches. This video sounds nothing like a Das keyboard.

  • I'm pretty sure the Model M is louder than the DAS keyboard. Das keyboard only uses cherry mechanical switches and they aren't too loud and I think even softer. But the Model M buckling spring is definitely much louder and maybe even a bit stiffer.
