www.bighoneydog.com / Honey the Great Dane showing how she learnt some of her fancy new moves for her new Freestyle dog dance routine, including: Reversing with Target Stick, Circling a Pole, Beg back to back and Pop-out through the legs.
Um...aside from the enjoyment of watching you and your wonderful dog working together, there's another interesting aspect to this particular video. In the scene where you're teaching Honey to round a pole in your apartment, there are several orbs of trail-blazing light that zoom by and then disappear. I counted three in the seating area (one vanished on your foot), one in the kitchen and another entering the other room from the hallway. I think you've got dancing spirits too! lol!
You really think evolution built this dog to be physically incapable of standing on its hind legs? Animals aren't as fragile as people think nowadays. If she can't do it, she won't do it. That's all you have to tell yourself. She's not forcing the dog to do anything, the dog chooses to do it because she can and it earns her a treat. In nature, maybe the treat would be a squirrel in a tree or something.. who knows? I don't mean to put you down but remember that they aren't made of glass.
This is so fascinating to watch! you and your amazing dane are a constant inspiration for me! I won't be able to have a dane of my own due to budget constraints, but I will be adopting a retired racing greyhound and they are pretty close to a dane, just a lot lighter and so I really hope to try out some of your tricks!
You are a wonderful trainer and Honey is a awesome dancer.
