The point of this video is that like your physical actions, your emotions are the result of the same neurochemical process. If you can train your mind to feel positive more often you can alter the physical structure of your brain so that you feel happier more often! This is huge, and relates back to what prophets, philosophers, and self-improvement experts have been saying all along. Very intriguing.

  • If you want to be happy: forget psychology and, read some Aristotle.

  • @KidBlondie I read Aristotle =) and the most surprising thing I've learned from reading philosophy, religious text, self-improvement books, and neuropsychology is how much there is in common....I think it has not only enhanced, but multiplied my understanding to realize just how many great thinkers have been trying to say the same things just with different methods.

  • *slow clap*

  • @AndreasChoice I wish everyone knew just how cool Andrea is

  • Dear Aman,

Thank you very much for this. But although I agree with the message of this video, I do question your emphasis on neuro-psychology. After all, cognitive and behavioural psychology are just as important, if not more important.

Of course, we could easily get into the whole 'Redutionist' debate that I've been having since I was at University. But regardless of the mechanics, you are right when you say that we can choose to cling to what is familiar, or we can choose to grow :-)

  • @Ujames1978 I'm sorry I didn't comment earlier James, I read this a while ago, and of course, I appreciate what you've said =) I tend to lump cognitive and behavioral psychology together with neuropsychology...maybe b/c cog and behav psych were the emphasis at my university (minor in psych) I take it for granted! hahaha - I like how you sum things up "we can choose to cling to what is familiar, or we can choose to grow"

  • Your videos make me tear up slightly because its just nice to hear some true hope.

  • Great presentation

  • brilliant video x

  • I cannot express how happy this video made me feel, thank YOU from the bottom of my heart :)

  • So if we are who we have been trained to be then isn't the person we want to be (our "true selves") is just a different form of training a person?

So if we become the person we want to be isn't just training, so then there isn't ever a "real" person, just a structure of habbits?

  • LOL Lag.. i see what u did there

  • @AndreasChoice *fast fap*

    hahahah

  • @AmanJohnK i do, she sent me here :)

  • To be fair with you, i always complain, but i carry on with it and i always find the bright side to things which makes doing things so much better.
