  • @TheTrueEconomist (Paraphrased) The Prophet SAW said: There will be people from my ummah who consider the use of musical instruments halal (allowed) .. Allah SWT will turn them into monkey and pigs and crush them with a mountain (Bukhari)

Here are the problems with Music:

    1. The Heart only has room for EITHER Music or Qur'an - you will never find someone attached to the Qur'an and music concurrently. Hence Music takes you away from Allah by its nature.

  • i am a new muslim, and so far, i have found no such verse in the Holy Qur'an regarding the prohibiton of music as long as it does not lead you away from thinking about Allah, Subhanna wa ta'alaa, and does not lead you away from Him and His will for our lives. i have am in the process of deleting all of my old christian music as well as other secular music because it causes me to think of other things apart from Allmighty God, maher zain is an excellent muslim artist.

  • ..I am a Muslim and simply can't agree with this.. Why is it wrong? I can see that society connects music to many bad things, partying, weak morality, drinking alcohol and all the bad things that come out of this.. However, music is everywhere, it is your heartbeat, it is words you say, it only depends how you use it, for good or for bad..

Maybe someday, someone will tell me exactly why is it wrong, until then I consider it the same as playing football or reading novels...

  • As salamin aelikum brother, I loved the way u mentioned, straightly: no you can't. :)

    JazalAllah we Khayre

  • Brothers and sisters I have to say, making excuses, and exceptions for listening to music falls under 'seeking to make it permissable' about which the prophet (peace be upon him) said.. “Among my ummah there will certainly be people who permit zinaa, silk, alcohol and musical instruments…” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari ta’leeqan, no. 5590; narrated as mawsool by al-Tabaraani and al-Bayhaqi. See al-Silsilah al-Saheehah by al-Albaani, 91).

  • @TKnightcrawler I should mention I am only trying to predict what the stance would be. I am not actually religious. Sorry, but I ran out of characters.

  • Wow, that's strict. Music reflects human emotions. I don't have a hundred (or even 20) music CDs like many people around here, and I don't usually just sit and do nothing but listen to music, but even I would feel robbed if I couldn't listen to music.

Of course, objectively I understand the position. It may cause you to forget Allah for a moment. But for me, that's not a concern, and even for those religious, there is no need to became angels on Earth. Allah made Earth to be Earth, right?

  • What a statement...

The correct answer would be....if it takes you closer to Islam and Allah, of course.

If its the garbage that leads to sin and shirk then No.

TheStreetMimbar is a much better channel
