Me playing Efficiency Rag, composed by James Scott and published in 1917. The sheet music is available for free at http://www.ragtimepiano.ca/ and if you know this piece, you can tell I add a lot on the repeats, in addition to what's in the score. I apologize for the wrong notes, I can usually play this arrangement better. This was recorded in the Musician's Room at the 2006 West Coast Ragtime Festival. Thanks to Ron O'Dell for the video.

  • I play this piece too. But unfortunately I don't have your imagination with it. I play it straight. I love James Scott.

  • @aardvaark069 One of my long-term projects (and it's VERY long-term) is writing out my arrangement of this, note-for-note. It's pretty "set" by now, I don't change it much. If/when I finish it, I can send you a copy, since you seem interested. I just thought that since James Scott's stuff is considered hard to play as-written, why not make it harder!

  • Very good ragtime played in the spirit and bounce of the period. Very authentic and entertaining. Thanks for this ragtime piano solo.

  • Awesome interpretation. It has earned a place upon my iPod (if you don't mind, that is!) I would certainly be interested in an updated performance of this too, as I notice this was uploaded in 2006.
