Do you think the 50mm 1.8 is good on a dx?

@pimp713 type in battery grip for d90 on amazon.
-
@pimp713 He has a Nikon battery grip under the camera (for more battery power and a bigger camera grip if you have large hands). The 50mm is definitely worth it for the price. The depth of field is very shallow so it easily blurs out busy backgrounds. You can almost shoot in a very poorly lit room as well.

Thanks mate for the review.
What is the difference between this lens and Nikon AF-S 50mm f1.4 G if we want to use it on D300s?
The price difference between the two is $140... does that f.0.4 difference worth it?!

@ahmedhkable there are proably around 4 or 5 models
would you use a filter with this lens?

@lauweisheng
Personally I don't. The front element is recessed into the body of the lens a good amount making it a little safer from the usual bump on a table or doorway. Plus with the lens only costing around $100 there's no need in my eyes to put an expensive filter on the front.

I don't want to be a joy-killer, but it looks much more like the Nikon AF-Nikkor 50 mm f/1.4D than the f/1.8D. The difference is slight more distortion (from none to slighly) and a third of a stop.

This is 100% a Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D. Its stated on the lens and in the EXIF data in Lightroom. It may have similar IQ to the 1.4D but it is not that lens.

what do you mean by the lens sharpest aperture is 2 stops up/down from ..........
isnt the lowest f/ number mean the sharpest?
chaosrealm93 1 year ago
@chaosrealm93
The lowest f/ number just means its the maximum aperture (the widest opening) Almost all lenses are a little blurry at their maximum aperture. The sharpest aperture is two stops down from the maximum. Depending on the quality of the lens, the maximum aperture may be plenty sharp so you may not need to stop down
