1st Way: Disk Cleanup

Start ~ All Programs ~ Accessories ~ System Tools ~ Disk Cleanup (3rd One Down).

More Information- The Disk Cleanup program is a computer tool (Included in Microsoft Windows XP) designed to help free up space on computer users' hard drive. It cleans out all the old and unnecessary files that may be lingering in any of your computer's drives.


2nd Way: Disk Checkup

My Computer ~ Right-Click on C: Drive ~ Properties ~ Tools Tab ~ Under "Error-Checking", click Check Now ~ Check the Second Option and click Start.

More Information- As you use your hard drive more and more over time, it can develop bad sectors. Bad sectors slow down disk performance and sometimes make data writing (Such as file saving) difficult, or at times, virtually impossible. The "Error Checking" program scans your hard drive for bad sectors, and also scans it for file system errors to see whether certain files or folders are misplaced.

If you use your computer daily, you should run this program at least once a week to help prevent any loss of data.
