This litter of rough blue merle collie puppies were born on March 6, 2009 and just turned 8 weeks old. This week we used a moleskin technique to "brace" their ears. Now, you can truly see their expressions with their ears up on top of their head and properly tipped. In order to hopefully have a permanent tip, the owners will have to be vigilant on bracing their ears through the time they are finished teething or at least 9 months of age.....We have braced ears for a longer period of time. Even letting the ears go prick for a single day during this period could do irreversible damage to getting the ear to tip properly. Therefore, doing this requires a serious commitment. They were squirming and took 3 people to keep the puppy from squirming enough to get the braces in. We were able to get some video clips of the puppies playing together as well as individually. Enjoy!
They are adorable!
