Hi everyone! Thanks a lot for watching.
This video is a compilation that I edited myself very quickly of some shots from a tour to Madagascar with afro-jazz group Fikira (www.myspace.com/fikira).
The beginning shows a little bit of the beautiful city of Antananarivo. Then there is a jam session that we had with some amazing local musicians. They were some kids watching us play from the front door of the house!.
There is a short clip of the lemurs that we saw at a national park.
After that there is some of the music that we played at the Madajazzcar Festival.
The first song is an arrangement that I wrote for that great group with 3 horns of my tune "Placita de mi infancia". The second song is by the percussionist, singer and bandleader from Fikira, Mimy Manavihare. The song it's called "Beko" and talks about the freedom of the Malagasy people from the French oppression. Note the great piano intro by amazing piano player Uziel Colon.
