Driving from the depths of Florida, to the depths of Vermont. Shot on the GoPro HD Hero Wide. This includes the entire trip except the time between 1am and 5am. I wasn't sure how the night footage would come out, and also being the carolinas it was dark for most of it. I was also short on SD card space and wanted to capture the day shots more.

Things I would change.
I would keep the camera rolling all the time and capture all fuel stops. Again because of space issues I shut the camera off so it wasn't capturing while we were re-fueling.
I would make sure the cameras settings were the same. One of my cameras was set to spot metering instead of center weighted average.

  • Moving to Burlington! That's a great idea, I miss living there. Have Fun!

  • Cool Vid! Saw the Marine corp museum @ around 3:01 OOH RAA . How long did the battery last on time lapse? Mine lasts 2 hours shooting vid but was wondering if it would last longer on time lapse.

  • @FIEROPHREK hey! Glad you like it. Yeah, I switched out batteries the whole time, 24 hours of swapping batteries while driving and charging the 2nd go pro. I've since bought a skeleton housing which solves the problem, by just letting me plug in while in it's case.

  • nice!

    how many frames per second?

what did you do about battery power?

    love the clouds

  • @Getawaymoments it's 30fps but i was shooting at 10 second interval. I actually skipped 5 hours of night shots because it would all look the same, and i need to recharge the batteries. I WISH i had a skeleton housing but, I took the gopro out of it's case and changed the battery (sometimes while driving...) way too much work.

Take aways... 32 gb card, 10 sec intervals, skeleton housing (so external power can be plugged in)

  • Love it. Picked out the bridge by DC over the Potomac. Would've been awesome to catch a bit of foreground. A truck hood.. or steering wheel ,etc.

  • @danruss802 A good call. I did have plenty of hood in the shot before the images were brought to widescreen. Glad you dig it.

  • I am moving to Burlington, VT, this summer. Thinking of driving from Miami to Burlington, that will be super cool

  • Didn't go to the Phish concert at MSG last night.

  • What Dead song was that and from which bootleg?

  • This is so cool. It reminds me of when we fiest got Cable TV, and they used to play a "Showtime Short" video called "Coast to Coast in 17 minutes", and I remember it was from 1974. I've searched and searched for it to no avail. It probably got lost or destroyed somehow... I'd love to see that drive from NYC to San Francisco again!
