Interesting. I had the same (bottom heavy) problem with mine because my camera was too light. I raised it up by 3 inches and it's perfect now.

why we should spend big money for merlin

@C0ldFart Yes I know ^^ it was very tricky to setup. But I've found the right setup and made a tutorial for 550D. Have a look? youtube.com/watch?v=bdFCuZk4o9
w PS: Your dog is sweet =)

@havok2 You are sort of correct, but it's a balance between weight, balance-point and the smoothness of the gimble. I have balanced it better with my Canon EOS-550D.
But hey, remember it's my first try, and I was walking out in the field looking in display, and at ground and working hard to get it stable. I believe it is a operator parameter involved as well.
There is som nice tips from steadycam showing how to balance the steadycam unit which applies to this unit as well.
if you hold your tripod with two fingers under the camera adjusting thing and your tripod legs spreaded out a little you get the same effect, doesn't matter how fast you run and saves you alot of money! or this is possible to! /watch?v=JW6AWmqa8ZM

@SALVATOR11 The product does what it does, and is worth the money. It's how you set it up and use it that's? matters.

Just use a monopod and you'll get the same result

@vent25kn ehhh nooo, and yes, but it's impossible to run with a monopod at that height. I use a folded tri-pod as monopod stabilizer when not using the u-fly, but with the u-fly well balanced the monopod solution is only used when u-fly is unavailable
