How ridiculous is this? Is there another league in the world that throws its "all-star" players together for one match? Sorry, but probably not. This sport is not like basketball or American football, where individual skill is more important than teamwork. The national teams are the only place that "all star" teams should be assembled. I'd rather see the MLS champion take on the Football League Championship titleholder (QPR, this year) just to see how the MLS compares with England's 2nd tier.

@thadnokes u talk absolute rubbish pal. Lots of our players have been produced by our youth system, and I dont have a clue who you seem to think is a celeb playing for us. Ferguson rids us of players who put other things before the club - look what happened to Beckham once he started doing that, all went downhill from there and now plays in a team full of washed up players. We buy wins? every team in the world buys players, they ARE overpaid but that happens everywhere for high profile sportsmen

@ashevillecat ahahah yeah it's ridiculous. Football is 80% team work 20% skills, a striker duo needs to build up a chemistry to function properly. Just look at the England National Team, they have a lot of good players but none of them play together, they are all spread out on different clubs both in and out of the country, so they have no chemistry together in national matches. Spain is the opposite, 95% of the Spanish national team squad plays on Barcelona or Real Madrid!

@ashevillecat Oh please. Every sport has its merits and drawbacks. I'm tired of soccer people being so snooty about their sport. You guys are almost as bad as the anti-soccer people who troll soccer videos all the time.

@whitesox889 What do I know? I played both sports in high school, indoctrinated as most Americans are into those sports. I was "drug" to countless college games of both sports by my parents and wasted my fall weekends watching "handegg" on the TV. Only as an adult did I realize that American FB is a commercial-driven charade. Basketball has some atheletic merit, but pales in comparison with the beautiful game, where players play 70+ matches/yr running 7-8 miles per match on avg.
