Rasha el Fangry is the director of the Collaborative For Peace In Sudan. It is the only local NGO working for peace across both North and South Sudan.
Rasha has been involved in mobilising and educating voters who have never known an election before. She has organised teams of local people to visit the desert villages and traditional cattle-camps of Sudan, often on bicycles, to spread the word.
Rasha will be visiting the borough of Newham in London in April 2010 to speak about her work.
Her visit is being hosted by Truce 2020, a project for young people in Newham who want to make a positive change in their community. Through the project, young people are equipped with conflict resolution skills that support them in developing conflict resolution related projects, addressing the issues of community development and peace building on a local, national and international level.
