i've install the wmodemdriverinstaller.exe firat but when i put my fone in diagnostic mode, my vista cant reconize it. whats the problem?

I'm trying to do this on a USCC HTC PPC6800. I tried once before with no luck. Only thing that happened is that the data service stopped working and no one could fix it so they send me a different one. How exactly are you suppose to do hard reset before customization runs?
