Scientists have been developing Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) technology decades. It has diverse applications ranging from moving cargo at airports to transporting people on campuses and in cities. The developers of Masdar City, a carbon neutral, car free community in Abu Dhabi, are implementing an innovative and advanced PRT system that will include multiple podcars that are guided by a central computer and powered by solar panels. Planners face construction and programming challenges are they set out to build the infrastructure and expand the system.

    Even though I see as UAE as a living hell, it's probably the best place to experiment new things, because these neuvo-rich people are willing to throw money on everything, I ain't saying it is a bad thing...

    It's hot in there, but it's certainly not " a living hell".The climate reaches very high in temperature, especially in summer, but the inhabitants are used to it.

    I really was soooo happy when I tried this great transportation system in Masdar! it's very very easy and comfortable as well, and the car seems to ba just like an aircraft when you don't drive it!! keep it up Masdar =))

    No there isn't but there will be, since this technology is still under development and needs more funding. Maybe the new and improved versions might come out in other cities. For example such transport system is already in place in London Heathrow airport
