Trashed - No Place For Waste with the participation of Jeremy Irons, looks at the risks to the food chain and the environment through pollution of our air, land and sea by waste. The film reveals surprising truths about very immediate and potent dangers to our health. It is a global conversation from Iceland to Indonesia between the film star Jeremy Irons and scientists, politicians and ordinary individuals whose health and livelihoods have been fundamentally affected by waste pollution. Visually and emotionally the film is both horrific and beautiful: an interplay of human interest and political wake-up call. But it ends on a message of hope: showing how the risks to our survival can easily be averted through sustainable approaches that provide far more employment than the current 'waste industry'.

recycling isn't the solution. there are only so many time you can recycle a piece of paper or plastic before it, too, becomes garbage. we need to reduce our consumption, find happiness in experiences rather than products, and eliminate plastic and unnecessary packaging. we can't wait for people to change their habits, legislative action needs to take place.

Everything that's going wrong in the world... comes right back to money and our clamoring for it! :o(

Surely, this message needs to be sent the the packaging manufacturers who continue to use plastics. Consumers are just buying what's put in front of them.

There are so many ways we can improve on this situation. Even more - so many ways how we can change it altogether. No long-lasting change can be made at a snap of the fingers, a gradual process of making people aware and conscious is needed. Thankfully there are more and more of those who see the problem and are doing what they can to make a difference.

We act like the garbage we produce is purely man-made or from another planet. Glass comes from melted sand, most plastic is made from oil, money is just cotton linen fibers and so on. Everything humans create comes from the earth, but it's not always "good" or useful. We're living in a world of recycled dreams pretending to respect the earth. The privileged consume and waste endless amounts of food, while the ones in extreme poverty are used in films for jerking tears. Buy less, experience more.
