This song is as much about Berry Gordy and Motown as it is about Jackie Wilson. The fourth major writing credit for Gordy and his associate Tyran Carlo aka Roquel Davis. Fourth in a string of Jackie Wilson hits and money/expertise to build the Motown empire.
Notice the use of the flute...very common in early Motown records. If Gordy had controlled the producing for Brunswick I suspect he would have had diff background vocals...perhaps the Andantes?
