I always hate the argument "if Scott Stevens played in the league now he would get suspended all the time". He's not in today's NHL, argument over. The NHL he played in had different rules and he played by those rules. Why should Scott Stevens have to assume what future rules would be and then follow those? Within those rules the man was a clean hitter. The only reason Scott Stevens gets labeled as a dirty player over any other hard-hitter is because he was one of the greatest.

Maybe Kariya should learn not to casually admire his pass as he crosses the blue line during the STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS! Come on guys this is the NHL...Every kid is taught to keep their head up especially when skating laterally across the offensive blue line. Most of these hits are during the playoffs where stakes are higher and physical play is necessary. How can anyone expect Stevens not to clock these guys?

There's no excuse for his conduct.  He is trying to render a player useless by permanently disabling them with hits like those he was famous for.

Mostly these plays were clean, hard, hits. But sheriff Shanny doesn't like big hits, clean or dirty.

Wrong, they were shoulder hits, and the natural reaction is for you arm to follow through, Elbow hits are not in any of these.

Elbows directly to the head on most of these. Glad they don't accept those anymore. He literally ruined Kariya and Lindros' careers.

If he's on your team he's the greatest, but anyone with any sort of objective thinking that knows hockey knows he was outside the rules more often than not. Dude was cheap, but also a great defender (which you can't dispute).
