I suggest 2-4GB for a average user, and 4-xxGB for a gamer, video editor, or otherwise advanced user.

RAM for laptops I recommend: DDR2: PC2-5300-667MHz
DDR3: PC3-8500/1000-1066MHz/1366MHz

  • Will someone please just tell me right off the bat how much RAM can a 32-bit version of Windows 7 Ultimate take? Because I currently have 2gb and i'm looking to get atleast 1 more gb minimum.

  • @dapoculos13 I wish there were a finite number. I've had 32-bit machines accept 3.99GB. I've also had them stick around 2.5GB. USUALLY within .25GB of 3GB is where 32-bit draws the line. You can safely add at least 1GB more to your system.

  • Can it work with 1 gb ram?

  • @skate2196 Work? Yes. Work quickly? No.

  • @T0M88xXx1 That doesn't mean it will run well...

  • @E39Sourci have seen videos where people run it on 512mb

  • @T0M88xXx1 1GB minimum

  • what is the minimum requirement for windows 7

  • I have windows 7 on a DX2000MT used to be a work computer for C&S but I got it. Its capable of using 4.96GB DDR1 ram. I put 1GB of ram with 512MB ddr2 nvidia graphics card. Perfect, but after a while I put 1.50 its was ok. Then I put 4GB ddr1 and it works awesome. it only sees 3.78GB the fact that its a 32bit os. Windows 7 pro. Its perfect for running FS2004 scenery addons and modding GTA

  • Im running Windows XP Professional x64 and Windows 7 Professional x64 and I use 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz in my system. Runs both OS's perfectly in a dual boot configuration. I think RAM is cheap these days so I would recommend at least 4GB for a Vista\7 System especially if its a 64 bit OS. The next MS OS is going to be x64 only so I strongly recommend upgrading to x64 OS's now. I still think though that XP x64 is still usable today. 32bit XP should be dumped!
