Not that the Avatars world is Earth... But if it were, than the Firenation wouldn't be Asian anyway. They'd be Mexican. lol. Because the Firenation is in the planets Western Hemisphere. And because the Firenation descends from the ancient Sun Warriors, and if you look at their clothing and architecture, they are based off of the Aztecs. lol. But do you know what, I think this adaptation is a rare exception, where casting shouldn't be based on race but on the spirit the actors can capture.

Sadly, I think we cast too many "known" celebrities over amazing unknowns. :)

And, ya cool, he's Asian... Means nothing.
Russia is in Asia too, if anyone noticed, and half of them are blond (I'm exaggerating, mind you).

They didn't call it just The Last Airbender because they don't own it...
They called it that to avoid confusion with James Cameron's latest film Avatar.
That's really the only reason.

I hear all the time - "Oh Robert is so perfect for the role!! His accent makes him dreamy!!" (gag..) but seriously... He's supposed to be southern....
