In 2007 a team of Instrumentation students built a Cipolletti weir at the college's fish hatchery to measure water flow going down the fish ladder channel. Water level on the upstream side of the weir is measured with an ultrasonic sensor, then relayed to the control room where the signal is characterized by a computer to represent flow in gallons per minute.
