BMW M5 E39 cruising at top speed in Germany by night

m5board.com presents: Several minutes on the unrestricted Autobahn in Germany. Several minutes on the top speed limiter in the night. Speed is 270 km/h on the speedometer and 260 km/h for "real" as measured by GPS satellites. The car is limited to 260 km/h from the factory but does over 300 km/h on the speedometer when unlimited.

14.5 is the average fuel consumption. At 265 km/h the instant fuel consumption is probably close to 40.

I understand that to classify the car market in europe, the manufacturers have included speed limiters... but at 250 km/h

but you're hitting 260 / 265...

is it gauge error? or what then?

I am extremely impressed with the fuel cosumption...

at 265 it eats 14.5 l/100km

my 607 v6 cosumes that at 145 km/h... at 245 it eats about 26 l/100 km

should get an m5, what do you say? ;-)

i've been told the BMWs have shitty handling, at least the 3series... how good is it, the m5?
