Refering to my other comments I just wonder how a planet or moon is suposed to behave to be considered not rotating?

@bandet888 By not spinning on it's axis. :O)

If the Moon rotated any slower or faster than it is, then we would see the rotaion. Because it rotates at the same speed as the Earth (as close as needed) it just appears not to rotate. Hope that helps?  All the best!

Interesting, that is true! Even in astrology, the moon is the "motherly personification" and represents the motherly traits. The moon rules Cancer in astrology, the nurturing and caring mother..

i have idea lets called our Moon as "Emon" so it appears to be E prefers to Earth, Mon prefers to Moon (removed the double o). so it appears Emon. instead of Luna.

Refering to my other comment in other words the moon is considered rotating because it experiance day and night caused by the sun but the same side faces the Earth. If the Earth was a star not orbiting another star (in other words it's the Earth causing day light on the Moon) if it would still be considered rotating?

If the same side of a planet faces the sun I wonder if it would be considered rotating? If so then the only way a planet cannot rotate is for the same side to face certain stars. If this is the case then the planet would be considered not rotating but yet experiancing day and night as it revolves around the sun. I guess it depends on what you want to use as a point of refference.
