This is my Maple Morrell six string lap steel tuned C6. Here are two Hank Williams songs played on it with no backing tracks so you can really hear what a good sounding steel this is.
I also must thank Roy Thomson for providing me some great lap steel instruction via mail. Definitely look up his web site and order his tabs and courses if you want to learn lap steel.
Thanks for watching!

  • I'm just wondering, how do you have the six strings tuned?

  • great work my man... sounds great

  • quick question. I just got a lap steel i think its small has 15 strings and shaped like a triangle, any idea what it is? it has a steel tuning wrench and a pick but i cant find any vids or pics of it.

  • A very reasonably priced lap steel can be had on ebay. It's called a Rogue E-3. I got one a few weeks ago and it's just right. $99 most of the time, but I have seen them for $79 on occasion. But one caveat... You need to get a decent tone bar. The cheap ones from China are garbage. I got one and a week later ordered a Dunlop 920. Slides are heavey and take some getting used to, but a good bullet slide is worth it.

  • On the old bayou....yes? First I thought "You Win Again" but no....

  • Sounds beautiful .. I want to learn some lap steel. Can you recommend a decent beginner guitar for this?

  • Thanks for sending me Roy Thomson's way. I just ordered his Hank Williams course, and eagerly wait it's arrival. You have a great style, and I like your phrasing. Thanks again! Dan P.

  • Can you do a video of the tuning? I've tried the tuning you mention but it don't sound right. Pretty please. You sound great.

  • Nice job on Lost Highway and I'm so Lonesome I Can Cry. Dom Helms would be proud of you.

  • nice job. great jammin' with you.Have a good new year.thanks again.
