GREY GARDENS: From East Hampton to Broadway looks at how their lives set the stage for the Maysles film and later the Broadway musical, both of which have impacted the art, entertainment and fashion communities.

In this clip, the musical’s playwright talks about the Beales’s “beautiful damage” and how the Grey Gardens estate’s haunted house feel makes the story universally appealing.

Thank goodness that Grey Gardens was completely renovated to a return of it's former splendour..it was never meant to be "the neighbourhood spook house"!
