thx for your reply...i'll be staying in pelling (hotel elgin mount pandim) for 3 nights....i heard it's a good hotel....do you have any idea abt the hotel and can you recomend a few spots worth seeing in and around pelling?

@drmvm35, for me December is great for going to Sikkim...it will be a bit cold no doubt...but the skies are very clear...and yes safe for your 10 year old too...
We went to Tsomgo lake & Baba Mandir in December...though we were a bit lucky as there was some amount of snowfall during that time
You can see sunrise from Tiger hill.....but my fave will always be Pelling :-)

@manpreetgrover , you should do that ... if you want to watch kanchenjunga in its full beauty...try going in the winter....the view will be uninhibited and breathtaking...like the one in this video :-)

@jackolams , I envy you....according to me sikkim rocks....i almost go there every alternate year
Would it be fairly accurate to say that Kanchenjunga probably receives the most
snowfall out of any mountain in the Himalayas or at least close to it?

@K2Karakoram , no idea man...but whatever glimpse I have seen of Kanchenjunga from different parts of Sikkim & North Bengal, I have always seen this magnificent peak covered with snow...all the time of the year...I know that does not answer your question....maybe Google/ Yahoo Answers will :-)

@partharchna
Ya I've googled quite a bit. I am fairly certain that it does get hit by the monsoons more than any of the other 8000 Meter peaks and that the Zemu glacier that originates from the east face of Kanchenjunga is the the largest glacier in the Eastern Himalaya. Beyond that its difficult to always to make estimates of snowfall from such massive mountains like Kanchenjunga.
