The best part though is the President's dangling modifier. "Your mind, like a child," instead of "Your mind, like a child's, will explode. I don't normally jump on peoples' grammar, but I can't help but notice that, during a cold open that involved the President picking up on a NASA staffer's mistake, he would Make a dangling modify that would imply children exploding.
"In a time when Americans seek the best leadership for our generation, we settle on mediocre minds. When crisis burdens the fair and just, collective bodies accept the horrible outcomes. America, we must change our course. America, we must build a nation."
porcospino289: It's funny you should mention Daniel J Travanti- Martin Sheen's President Bartlet always reminds of his Captain Furillo in Hill Street Blues- They represent the kind of people we HOPE are in charge when life and death decisions have to be made. Like The West Wing, the strength of Hill Street Blues also sprang from the writing.
.. the joy of hearing someone on prime time TV say that something cannot be *very* unique or *more* historical. Hallelujah and gosh-a-rootie! Ura! In Henry VI, the thief doth fear each bush an officer. I fear each President a Bush.
It really was a joy to watch (even more, to listen to...) these actors, equipped with great music and dialogue -- as Daniel J. Travanti says in his Archive interview, "Read my lips: It's the *writing*. It's the *writing*." -- and film editing.... Of course Sam should've said "I", not "me". The writer(s) for the show surely knew that; was Sam's error intentional on their part? (Rhetorical.) My feeling on listening to some Obama speeches after years of Bushes is akin to the joy of hearing ..
imdaman: I remember that scene. But...didn't they determine that Bartlett did that intentionally? He made it look like an accident...but he did it intentionally to ridicule Ritchie...without making it look like the President was stooping to such low tactics.
that is correct:-) we should expect and demand that our leaders not only can keep up in a 357.magnum world, but that they lead by their word and example.
