From 1995, here is a rare recording - the first time that TNT showed the EXTENDED version of "Star Trek the Motion Picture," with William Shatner talking about the movie!

  • This movie has some obvious problems which can be minimized by judicious editing. Some sequences need to be shortened. Some bad acting needs to be removed! For fun, I've edited it to 90 minutes. It works for me. Despite the flaws, I love this movie!

  • Sucks that the airlock scene was cut from the "directors cut" ...

  • Is the movie boring? Some of the time. Is the movie classic? Absolutely. There is enough in this movie with effects and score to make it a film classic and it does have some classic, historic scenes in it which make it have it's own niche in the Star Trek mythos.

  • star trek tmp is slow and boy does everyone go on about it but it does have interesting ideas, machine planets eg. also the effects and music are beautiful

  • *shot of Spock* Not him!

To all the slash writers: Buuuuuuuuuuuuurn! XD

  • IT was a story about a Spaceship SLOWLY going where no man has gone before.....AND When we finally get to our final destination....THERE IS 100% NOTHING TO SEE!!! That is the story of STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE!!!

Except for Jerry Goldsmith's wonderful score...there was zero human about this lame story. Watching grand maw placing her dentures in a cup..is more exciting!!!

  • Initially I found "STAR TREK;TMP" a bit long and at times boring and to a point I still find it so but over the years I have grown to appreciate it more mainly on nostalgic reasons. The combination of the original cast together again along with Robert Wise's great directing and effects master Doug Trumbull make for an unforgettable science fiction experience and I rank it as one of the best Trek films ever.....

  • sorry to say but this is the most boring movie of the set. try as i may to watch it completely through i always end up falling asleep.

  • Who would want an extra long version?

  • They witnessed the birth of a new alien species!! How wonderful is that??? I think it was the most wonderful idea!!! <3 Btw, FTW! Hahahaha!
