If you are looking for health insurance, the Mayor's Health Line knows all the programs available to you, public or private. For many public programs, we can help you with the application process. We will also assist you in calling the agencies to ask the proper questions and find the answers you need.
Even if you have insurance, it may not be enough to cover all the costs associated with going to the doctor. We might be able to find a program that covers the services your insurance doesn't.
If you're looking for affordable prescription drugs, the Mayor's Health Line can try to help you find the proper information or resource to help you afford prescription medications. There are various eligiblity guidelines for each program.
If you're pregnant, you may be eligible for state subsidized health insurance and/or Healthy Start services.
And if you're looking for a doctor or a health care provider, the Mayor's Health Line has up-to-date information on all the hospitals and health centers in your community. They will assist callers in finding a primary care provider that is accepting new patients and has a reasonable waiting time. Callers can also get information on other low-cost health care services in their neighborhood, such as breast cancer screenings, flu shots, mental health counseling, HIV testing sites, and many more.
Overall, the Mayors Health Line provides statewide assistance to callers on a variety of personal and public health issues. It specializes in providing multilingual assistance, in over 160 languages, to uninsured and underinsured residents of the Boston area. Health Line staff can assist callers to enroll in free or low cost health insurance or assistance programs, including MassHealth, Commonwealth Care, Health Safety Net (FreeCare), Childrens Medical Security Plan, WIC, and food stamps.
