The very beautiful song from the tolkien Ensemble, based on J.r.r. Tolkiens lyrics from The Lord of the Rings.

Vocal: Signe asmussen

English Translation:

Ah! like gold fall the leaves in the wind,
long years numberless as the wings of trees!
The long years have passed like swift draughts
of the sweet mead in lofty halls
beyond the West, beneath the blue vaults of Varda
wherein the stars tremble
in the song of her voice, holy and queenly.
Who now shall refill the cup for me?
For now the Kindler, Varda, the Queen of the stars,
from Mount Everwhite has uplifted her hands like clouds
and all paths are drowned deep in shadow;
and out of a grey country darkness lies
on the foaming waves between us,
and mist covers the jewels of Calacirya for ever.
Now lost, lost to those of the East is Valimar!
Farewell! Maybe thou shalt find Valimar!
Maybe even thou shalt find it! Farewell!

  • All today I've been trying to put together a tune in my head of how this song would go. I thought it sounded pretty good.... but then i heard this

  • @mlaBreaker DANSIH!! XD

But yes, i agree with you :)

  • I simply cannot understand why any one would dislike this.

  • @icedragon769 Then why don't you ask for the boxset, specify where from, for christmas or if you don't get it for christmas then save up any christmas money and buy it after new year.

  • @fatboyslim142 That's $40 US, still too much for me as a college student. Eventually I will definately buy the box set, but I want to hear the tracks now! lol. Especially The March of the Ents, which is probably my favorite song from the book.

  • @icedragon769 If you think they are overpriced then the best one to getis the following from Amazon Uk

The Lord of the Rings (4CD) [Box set]

the iten listed above is just the four CDs rearanged, so that the tracks, appear in the order they appear in the books/novel.

It's only £34.99 for the set.

  • @fatboyslim142 But they're all way overpriced and aren't available for digital purchase:/

  • @moonlitshadow27 You can buy the songs done by the Tolkien Ensemble as individual CDs. Here is a list of the CDs

    1) An Evening in Rivendell (1997)

    2) A Night in Rivendell (2000)

    3) At Dawn in Rivendell (2002)

    4) Leaving Rivendell (2005)

and here is the Compilation CD boxset which has the same songs as the individual CDs but put in the order they appear in the books, the individual CDs have the songs in the order they were recorded.

    Complete Songs & Poems (2006)

    Buy from Amazon UK

  • Who else thinks Howard Shore should work with them for the soundtrack of the Hobbit? I would love that!

  • Can you buy this online anywhere or is it only available on CD? I adore this song and absolutely want to support this incredible ensemble!! thanks for uploading it and sharing it with us! Le hannon!
