while visiting friends in De'An, Jiangxi (江西德安), we went to a tea house. Tea and conversation first, then dinner, then more tea: Pu'Er tea and green tea.
The serving of tea is not an easy task; it requires stern attention to not only the steeping of the tea and use of the various tea utensils, but a good host does not overlook an empty teacup. The more guests, the more challenging the honor!
And if you've ever drank a bitter cup of tea... it certainly was not prepared in this way! There is an art to the tea ceremony, and to share it with great friends over good conversation - is always memorable.
My friends speak the local Da'An dialect (德安话), which is quite different than the standard Mandarin I've been studying in Beijing.
