  • I'm just curious, as I am a tuba player; but what brand and model of tuba is that? From what I am seeing, it looks sort of like the Baer F tuba that Meinl Weston has, but then again I can't really tell.

  • It's a Hirsbrunner HB9 F.

  • @stltubist Hirsbrunner, I've heard they have a pretty CC tuba from my teacher. I play a Miraphone 1292 CC, and I'm possibly looking into getting an F tuba, but I'm not so sure if I want to change up the sound. I like the tone my Miraphone gives, but I'm gonna let time do its job and then I might get a small horn.

  • My first CC tuba was a Miraphone. It was a fine instrument. I next owned a 5/4 Hirsbrunner which I found more comfortable for the big stuff in the orchestra & the Hirsbrunner F for solo & chamber music and smaller orchestral stuff. I'm not much of an equipment jock - I've owned the same horns for many years. They are a part of me now. Good luck with your studies (pay attention and PRACTICE!) and your future as a tubist!

  • Sounds pretty good, but where're those high Ds?

  • Indeed! Good question!

  • ES COMO LA PAZ MUNDIAL, ES COMO UNA BOMBA NUCLEAR, ES COMO SOLO TU PUEDES SER...

  • Magnificent. Although I no longer live in St. Louis, I grew up in Dutchtown and walked by St. Anthony's everyday on my way to Cleveland HS in the 1960s.

  • Fantastic!!!

  • The the echo makes a great effect, fills the quintet where it lacks :)

  • Thanks!
